NCE Junior Program
Please note this information refers to the 2018 / 19 seasons. This page will be updated early 2020.
North Canberra Eagles has a strong focus on developing and nurturing junior talent in the club. We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for juniors and to give them the opportunities to develop their hockey skills, build teams founded on strong comradeship and nurture leadership qualities.
In 2018, the club ran programs across the primary school age group through Hookin2Hockey clinics on a Saturday morning, for both boys and girls. At the high school age, two teams competed at Division 1 level in both U15s and U18s, with the U15 team winning the premiership in the club’s inaugural season.
In 2019, we are expanding numbers and teams across all junior age groups.
The structure of the 2019 NCE junior competition will have age groups at U18 (girls only), U13 and U11 for both boys and girls.
Age group eligibility is based on the child’s age as of 1 January 2019. Although Hockey ACT is yet to issue the draw for 2018, they are proposing the following competition arrangements:
|U18||Friday nights||Friday nights|
|U15||Sunday mornings||Saturday morning|
|U13||Sunday mornings||Saturday morning|
|Stick2Hockey (U9-U11)||Saturday morning||Saturday morning|
|Hookin2Hockey (U7)||Saturday morning||Saturday morning|
Game times vary each week – for example, the U18 girls games on a Friday evening can start as early as 5:10pm up to 7:30pm.
Playing shirts are available through ATHLEAD (only U13-U18 need to purchase a shirt), socks are available from the hockey shop in Lyneham and you will need to find your own black Shorts/Skirts.
